Shadrack Mwadai Nyawa (Director)Shadrack joined DT in 2017 after completing his Master’s degree in UK on International Development and Conflict Resolution. He has previously coordinated or managed community development programs with East African Centre for Empowerment of Women and Children, Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), Solidarity with Women in Distress [SOLWODI (K)] and the USAID-funded APHIAplus Project in Kilifi County. As well as an MA from University of East Anglia, UK, Shadrack has a BSc in Community Development from Egerton University, Nakuru, Kenya. Shadrack's efforts to help the people of Kilifi County were recently recognized by Rotary International through the People of Action: Young Innovators Award in November 2018.

Sammy Mwaro Baya (Community Manager)Sammy was the Lead Community Health Volunteer (CHV) in the Dabaso Community Unit from its inception under APHIA II in 2007. Since that time he has coordinated the activities of the 50 CHVs, assisting them with challenges and reporting. He has been trained to conduct health promotion activities focusing on HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, maternal health, hygiene, sanitation and nutrition. He identified the need for, instigated and has managed the jigger control program of DT since 2013. Sammy originally qualified and worked as a teacher between 1974 and 1983 and has a special talent communicating with children.

Jackson Nyundo Mwamure (Community Officer)Jackson has been a CHV in Dabaso CU since it was created in 2007. He has been trained to conduct health promotion activities focussing on HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, maternal health, hygiene, sanitation and nutrition. He has also received training in First Aid from Kenya Red Cross. Jackson also owns and manages a snake park where he educates the community and tourists on the different snakes native to the area, and about their conservation and safety. He provides snake recovery/rescue services in the community. Jackson completed his o-levels at Gede Secondary School. He is also a leading member of Sita Community Conservation Group and is a community conservation representative on the Managing Committee of Watamu Marine Association.
Khesia Ghaffo - Project Officer, MHMKhesia has a Diploma in Community Development and Social Work from Coast Institute of Technology, Voi Campus. Previously she worked on Child Protection projects with various organizations. Khesia started with us in 2018 as an intern to help out with a school-based Life Skills project. She has gone on to manage our Menstrual Hygiene project, coordinating tailors making reusable sanitary pads, delivering lessons on reproductive health in primary schools and evaluating the project.
Anthony J. Mwabonje – (Monitoring and EValuation Officer)Anthony is a Community development practitioner having graduated with a diploma in Community Development and Social Work from Mt. Kenya University, and a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies form the same Institution,
He has previously worked with Kenya Red Cross Society Malindi Branch under the Protracted Relief & Recovery Operations (PRRO)/Emergency Operations project. He has participated in baseline assessments and evaluations for various projects in the past including with the Inter-Faith Council of clerics (CICC) and Catholic Diocese of Malindi( CD0M). Anthony joined DTCBO in April 2019 to lead the monitoring and evaluation of our projects and managing data for our research projects. |
John Kimanzi (Accountant)John is a certified accountant (CPA I and II) working part time with Dabaso Tujengane, with a local business and Ecomoyo School. Prior to joining us he was Manager and Finance Director of Arabuko Jamii Villas, an eco-lodge established and run by Arabuko Sokoke Forest Adjacent Dwellers Association (ASFADA), where he has worked and been a member since 2013. John is experienced in managing a payroll, preparing and submitting VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, income tax, NHIF & NSSF declarations, accounts management and the accounting and reporting needs of International NGOs, donors such as USAID and EU.
